I am thinking of buying noise-cancelling headphones but I don’t know if they are really worth the price. Is there really that much of a difference between using a mid-range pair of those, and using the earbuds that come with an iPod? I’d be using them mostly on airplanes and Amtrak trains.
If you own a pair, could you please include the brand and price range when you reply, so I can have all the details in case I decide to buy.
Please don’t answer if you have never used them— I’m looking for real user experiences and not quotes from the people who sell them. Of course the people who sell them will say they work great and are worth $200!!!

Now I want this for Christmas, but my parents only want to pay $100 for it, and my grandma would pay another $100 for it…is it worth it for me to spend $100 from my pocket to get it? I would use it to listen to music on my ipod and stuff, but is it worth it?
