I am looking to get noise cancelling headphones.
The nice Bose ones are $300 and I can’t spend that much. I saw cheaper Sony ones online, are they any good?
Please recommend and tell me what you have and if you like it.

I am thinking of buying noise-cancelling headphones but I don’t know if they are really worth the price. Is there really that much of a difference between using a mid-range pair of those, and using the earbuds that come with an iPod? I’d be using them mostly on airplanes and Amtrak trains.
If you own a pair, could you please include the brand and price range when you reply, so I can have all the details in case I decide to buy.
Please don’t answer if you have never used them— I’m looking for real user experiences and not quotes from the people who sell them. Of course the people who sell them will say they work great and are worth $200!!! :)
Thanks!

Do you think that noise-cancelling headphones are worth paying extra money for or do you think that they don’t make any difference? There is a pair of Logitech noise-cancelling headphones at this address: http://au.shopping.com/xPP-headphones

Noise-isolating headphones simply passively block outside noises from reaching your ears by their mechanical construction. Sticking your fingers in your ears is a noise-isolating technique. Ear buds with a nice tight fit work similarly.
In contrast, noise-cancelling headphones use active electronics to “listen” to the noise around you and play and inverted signal through the headphones to cancel out the unwanted noise.
Most commercial “noise cancelling” headphones use a combination of both isolating and cancelling techniques. It turns out that noise cancellation works better at low frequencies and noise isolation works better at high frequencies. Using both together gives you good isolation across the whole frequency range.

I’ve heard great things about Bose, but I’m wondering if there is anything that will still do a very good job at less cost. I want to add that I want to get them becuase I have autism and am extremely sound sensitive to everyday sounds-most especially crying/shreiking kids and dogs barking. I want to hear from those of you with experience. Thank you.

If so, what brand can you recommend?

I am autistic and extremely sound sensitive. I’ve found that having this type of technology is somewhat helpful in a cheaper brand of noise-cancelling ear-buds, but not doing enough to mask the everyday noise around me. Should I invest in this pricy product? You don’t have to be autistic to answer, but it helps.

For Christmas, one thing I asked for is a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. I’m in high school and will take them on the bus, and to school. So I need some that look kinda tricked out. If u know what I mean.
I’m looking around $60 range. If someone could get me a site that has some cool ones, I will give them Best Answer. And u will get 10 points. Thanks!!!!!

I’m looking for a pair of noise-cancelling headphones that I can plug into my iPod or computer so I can enjoy my music and just my music. I also need a reasonable price ($20 – $50?). So please don’t suggest a $200 set.
If you don’t know a specific model, which is a good name brand to go with?
Thanks!
