I know noise canceling headphones do block out a bit of it but is that because of the noise canceling system or ear just being covered blocks it out. And I’m planning on buying Panasonic RP-HC500.

I have a neighbor who blares music and the bass comes through my walls, it actually shakes the walls. I am at my wit’s end.. I hate to have to tell my landlord and find out that I was the one who “told” and I don’t want to personally get involved with my neighbor. What should I do?? Thanks… oh yeah, so my question.. do noise cancelling headphones like the ones from BOSE block out bass? bass really pulsates through your body so how does this work..

To ease my daily commute, can anybody recommend any headphones, noise-cancelling or otherwise, that are so good that they will block out the noise of people’s mobile phones going off and the conversation that follows? If they block out train noise as well, that’s even better, but my primary concern is the mobile phone and mobile phone user noise.
